MD Application & Masters Degree Timing

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A masters degree is not "useless," it's just that it's not worth the time if you are doing it solely for the purposes of gaining medical school admission.

I'm glad I did my masters and would do it again. I think it does help, just not as much as some people hope.

If you want a master's, get one. If you don't, don't. If it's about a GPA or something, there's always post-bac courses.

If your only weakness is MCAT, study your ass off for it and spend your time doing something else like making money or having fun.

FWIW

I did one and I think it helped. I figured if I was going to be taking post-bacc courses, I'd better get another degree. Also, I mean I have no idea how much it helped but, where I got accepted, the interviewer made a few particular comments about how it did make me a special applicant....I don't necessarily how much that mattered or w/e.
