I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the MD/MS programs in bioengineering. I have tried searching the forums and haven't come up with a hit yet of actual first hand experience with the program. The programs that I have come across that offer the dual degrees are:

Case Western
Vanderbilt
U of Minnesota
Geisel (Dartmouth)
U of Maryland

I am a mechanical engineering student (applying to medical school next cycle) with the goal of becoming a surgeon and working on surgical devices on the side, thus am very interested in these programs. Thanks.

For those looking into this for future applications:
duke MD/MS and regular 4 year integrated research program allows BME research during research year
Carlee's MD program is an integrated 4 year engineering approach to medical school
University of Illnois @ Chicago-MD/MS
Harvard HST program allows you to do research at MIT and you can pursue a second degree taking a 5th year (including bioengineering)

I mean what would you like to know? It's pretty much like any other dual MD program except that there might be less research involved. There is one in Texas that will be having its first class in 2019.

Facts, were you just making that known or trying to say something about the program?
