If a school invites you to interview and does not mention their MSTP or MD/PhD program, does that mean that you are getting an MD-only interview? And does that mean that they are no longer considering you for the joint program?

Depends on the school. Some schools will send you two separate invites (one MD and one for MD/PhD). I deferred my MD interviews pending not getting a MD/PhD interview, because some schools will interview you for both at the same time depending on the MD/PhD interview decision. Sometimes the MD/PhD invite just comes a little later. Those schools were perfectly happy with that, and it seemed like a common situation. That being said, I then later declined the MD interviews at those schools that didn't give me MD/PhD interviews.

Which school are you referring to? If you don't feel comfortable saying you should just call them and ask. In fact, you should probably do that anyways.

Thanks a lot, Neuronix. I was getting really worried since the school was one of my safeties. I'll call them tomorrow 🙂

haha.. by chance is it Univ. Cincinnati? I was invited to interview there MD only, and it's my main safety. The woman in the admissions office told me to contact the PSTP admin, who's voice mail indicated she wouldn't be back until sept 26th. Apparently they don't give interviews until early december or something anyway.

In either case, it's really poorly organized...
