I am a first year DO student. I have not had a chance to find out how MD students feel about DO's?? Let me put it this way: If you were sick would you go see a DO ? Why? Why not?

I'd appreciate any comments!!

I am not a MD or a medical student but if I were sick I would go see a physician, not two letters behind their name

i live in the mid-michigan area, where a lot of DO's and MD's work hand in hand. The MD's here think very highly of DO's. I can't say for the other areas.

Why should it matter? If the person is qualified to administer allopathic routes of treatment then it shouldn't matter what letters are after his or her name. Some people might not feel comfortable with the manipulations and other various techniques that DO's use, but that's just a matter of their personal opinion. All in all, if you need treatment, it shouldn't matter who is doing the treating provided that it gets done and you benefit from it.
