Is it feasible to aim for acceptance into an MD/PhD program studying something total different than I did in undergrad?

I am interested in Biochem at the PhD level but studied psychology at the undergrad level.

I have pretty substantial independent interdisciplinary research in english/psych (no pubs but plenty of conference presentation) and 3 years experience in a genetic lab as part of an ongoing project in which I worked independently on a project already several years old and then passed onto another student when I graduated (no pub or presentation).

I didn't see threads about this after a search so hopefully somebody has some helpful advice on this sort of thing.

Thanks.
