Hello 🙂

I was just wondering, if I want to be a pathologist and a physician scientist, what kind of PhD would best compliment that career path? How about a hematologist/oncologist?

Thanks!

heme/onc is a medical specialty, not something you can get a PhD in...

Yes, I meant a PhD to compliment heme/onc
Ah. I'm aware of some bioethics programs, computational biology, cell biology, public health, engineering and degrees within the social sciences.

I'd imagine work in genetics, cell biology, molecular biology or biochemistry would be pertinent. Profs in all those fields do cancer and tissue research at my UG.

A PhD that will get you the most R01's down the road will probably best compliment your career path as a physician scientist.

oh thanks. I didn't know there was one haha
