What's "abnormal"? Seems very straightforward to me. Consider UCSD, UCLA, WashU.
Thank you for the response. I was under the impression that exploring clinical research would make it seem like I wasn't committed or experienced enough to pursue a bench PhD, and I'd get passed up.
