lately ive been getting emails from schools recommending that i apply for their MD PhD program. i dont know much about PhD programs at all, except that that it will help you if youre interested in research or teaching. but theres gotta be more to that, is there?

they send you emails ASKING you to apply to md/phd? that's badass.

You should read some articles about MSTP programs and visit the MD/PhD section of SDN. But yes, I recommend them only if you are really, really into research and academia because it's many extra years of hard work, so only do the combined degree if you know what you're doing.

what I want to know is what schools have asked people to come their MD/PHD program????
WOW!

wow that was quick. thanks you guys. ill definitely read up on the physician scientist forum

and sorry about the vague question. i really am that ignorant about the subject. before posting i had to search wikipedia for PhD, ffs

edit: for those asking, im pretty certain the emails were automatically sent to people who got higher than a certain score on the mcat

If you have any questions, you can pm me or just post in the md phd forum.

You need to have a lot of research experience if you want to apply MD PhD, and you need to want to incorporate research into your career.

UIC is one of those schools that mass mails everyone a "congrats on the MCAT. apply MD/Phd" letter. I think you get it if you took the MCAT and have listed UIC on your AMCAS
