MD School Chance?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do you have any clinical experience? But yeah, Michigan is a pretty friendly state to be in, better than California *cough *cough

No need to cough. Everyone would agree.

Perhaps the coughing about being in California indicates Tea Guzzling Traveler is there and is suffering from a disease that's making a comeback there? Must check for conjunctivitis and coryza as well 😛

@gyngyn is an adcom at a CA school. They're all very competitive, unfortunately. Who wouldn't love to move out west?

Yep I'm aware of that, I was just making a little joke about how cough + California = measles

I just got my MCAT score today and am I little worried.

My goal is to stay in-state and get accepted into Wayne State Medical School (Michigan), as UMich is out of my reach.

My GPA:
3.87
Science GPA
3.85

MCAT:
8/11/9 (PS,V,BS) Overall 28

I have leadership positions in clubs, have volunteered abroad, have hours of research, and have some more resume boosters.

But overall, just looking at my scores alone, is there a chance at getting accepted into MD?

Michigan has become a really friendly state for medical school admission over the last few years. UMich is out of reach, but Wayne, MSU, and OUWB routinely take students with 28 MCAT scores. A 28 is also golden at Central if you fit its mission, and you'll have a good shot at Western too. If everything else is in order, I think you'll get multiple interviews.

EDIT: MSUCOM is also an excellent DO school which your stats are highly competitive for. You should apply there as well.
