Hi everyone!

I am planning on applying to AMCAS this cycle. I would like to hear your opinions about the school list I've made, and if there are schools I should omit or schools I should add.

My stats are as follows:
3.99 GPA (BCPM), 4.0 (nonscience)
507 MCAT
2000+ clinical hours as an EMT (both paid and volunteer), medical scribing, and medical assisting
I am also a New York resident and attended undergrad in NY.

  1. Albany Medical College
  2. SUNY Upstate
  3. SUNY Downstate
  4. East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine
  5. UB Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
  6. Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (Public, NJ)
  7. Indiana University School of Medicine
  8. Lewis Katz at Temple University (Pennsylvania)
  9. Michigan State University
  10. Northeast Ohio Medical University
  11. University of Illinois Chicago of Medicine
  12. University of Louisville School of Medicine
  13. University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine
  14. Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine
  15. University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville
  16. Central Michigan University
  17. Louisiana State University of Medicine in New Orleans
  18. Marshall University Joan C. Edwards
  19. Penn State
  20. University of Connecticut School of Medicine
  21. West Virginia University School of Medicine

Thank you so much for your time!

Here is a more realistic list. SDNers are strongly encouraged to invest in MSAR Online and not merely use a list a med schools and their average matriculant GPAs. Liv, you have on your list tons of schools that rarely admit OOS applicants.

ALL SUNYs
Drexel (maybe)
U VM (maybe)
Gtown (maybe)
TCU/UNT
Miami
NYMC
Rush
Albany
Temple
Tulane
Wayne State
Netter
SLU
VCU
EVMS
Hackensack Meridian
Rosy Franklin
Loma Linda (only if you are SDA or a very devout Christian)
Loyola
MCW
Oakland U Beaumont (IS only)
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
Any DO program. Include UNECOM I can't recommend LMU, ARCOM, RVU, Nova, BCOM, ICOM and LUCOM, for different reasons. Avoid those new schools that haven't graduated a class yet, if at all possible.

Why are you apply to Michigan State, central michigan, South Carolina, Marshall, UConn, Wright State, Louisville, East Tennessee, Mizzou if you’re a New York resident?

I know it’s tempting to target schools in your stats range but these are extremely OOS unfriendly

I actually was unsure about the schools that were not OOS friendly. Thank you for enlightening me on this.

Thank you. I was actually unsure about OOS applicant schools. I have been using MSAR but perhaps I've been using it incorrectly.
I am definitely going to look into DO programs as well.
