In your opinion, which professional school on average is harder to get in? In other words, are dental students (on average) smarter than med students, or is it vice versa?

Posting on a pre-med forum is probably not the best way to control for bias regarding this question.

My hypothesis is that you will get the following answer: medical school is much more difficult to get into and attracts more intelligent students.

Whether that statement is correct, I don't know.

To any moderators, OP has cross-posted this thread here and in pre-dent. No doubt trying to conduct a little experiment regarding responses from different populations.

I bet the dental members won't look for a thread here! /s

Interesting survey.

being a past dental student ill put in my 2 cents. Both programs will have their respective creams of the crops and it's unfair to generalize to say that one population is smarter than the other. HOWEVER, in terms of GPA avg of applicants, med is definitely higher.

I would imagine that DAT is easier than MCAT.

I think I've seen on SDN a large number of students who have taken both say that in their experience the MCAT is harder. However, I've also seen a few posts of people scoring better on the MCAT than the DAT, so there's always that.

There's no way to ever really know! It's an interesting conversation to have, though.
