Like if you got an F in gen chem, retook it and got an A, it would be a 2.0/C? I thought MD schools just used the F and will just see that you got an A but not use it for your GPA.
Saying that they average the grades just confuses people and isn't really true. If you want to say that the grades are averaged, then you also need to point out that they're averaged but are given the combined credit hour weight for both the original attempt and the retake.

University of Washington is the only school I know of. They use a weighted system weighing freshman year at 1, sophomore at 2, and junior at 3. It does not say how they account for senior, super senior, or SMP grades.
