A compound C6H5CL was treated with HNO3 and H2SO4. The products of this reactin were then treated with Fe and HCl (causing a reduction), followed by neutralization.

1) What is the structure of this component?
2) WHat would be the structure of the other major component of this product mixture?

Please help..

Pretty standard reaction, check any o-chem text.
However, your compound, C6H5Cl, is a benzene ring with a Cl attached. Cl is an ortho/para director which will dictate where the nitration will occur.
Hope this helps.

Funnypharm is right and the nitro will reduce to the aniline to give the final product.

so the Answer to:

1) p-chloroaniline?
2) o-chloroaniline?
