Has anyone ever heard of a med/peds doctor completing a heme/onc fellowship and then having both a pediatric and adult oncology practice? Is this possible?

Possible? Sure. Practical? No. It would require completing two 3-yr fellowships (although you might be able to get 1 off for good behavior). Which would essentially mean 9-10 yrs of post-grad training. This is why I've never understood people who go into med/peds and then do fellowships. They all choose either adult or peds and have then, essentially, wasted 2y of training. The only reason I can see this being a good plan is if you plan to go practice in a small town somewhere and be the ONLY hem/onc doc for miles around. But I can see this being a niche that would be hard to find and make lucrative enough to make it worth your time/training.
