You act like there's some switch people flip and go from normal to obnoxious, belligerent drunk in an instant. Even in the case of a very accurate college reenactment, that transition is going to take at least a couple hours - plenty of time for you to hang out and then leave once people start getting too stupid for your taste.

Most people start pre-gaming right after the exam, so unless you're pre-gaming with them, there isn't much chill time.

It's not a big deal to me, I'd just rather get together with like-minded classmates and play poker/ go to a sports bar/ catch a UFC ppv etc etc...
