There must be a few current med school students lurking in this forum. I understand that med school doesn't give you time to break in, but can someone advise on whether traveling (weekend trips) is feasible during med school? I like to travel (road trips and cross country) every month or two to visit friends and family. I'm willing to make them into "study" weekends and take books along. Just not sure whether I'd have the time in med school, and want to be realistic about that going in. If anyone can elaborate on the specific times most suitable for traveling, please do. Thanks so much. 🙂

It depends...if once you hit medical school you need "minimal" time studying and absorb large amount of info sure, there will be plenty of time for trips. If OTOH once you get into medical school you need a lot of time to digest info then no, you will not have that many chances for trips....so sorry but this will vary highly among medical students. In my first year we had exams almost every week so the weekends were spent studying. Second year has it's own ups and downs we have less exams but more material and clinicals in the morning so we are busy a ton but there are more weekends "free"...
