I know its still early, but I haven't had the chance to do much research on the med apps since I've been concentrating on studying for the April exam...so forgive my ignorance! 😀 Anyway, I'm not going through a pre-med advisory board because the one at my school requires an academic advisor (who's going to remember me from 6 years ago?) and they want me to fly back to Chicago from LA to open a file. Thus I'm going to do the LOR on my own and have one of my grad profs write my opening letter. I know its more work, but I'm willing to do it. Do you think not going through my undergrad is going to hurt my chances?

Some schools require a committee letter of some kind. A few others say they prefer a committee letter, but if you can't get one, then you should send at least 3 letters, with 2 being from science professors who have taught your class. Thats just an example, since some schools ask for more or less than that. Harvard actually wants a non-science professor to write a LOR too in addition to the science ones. Therefore you will probably have to look up which schools you want to apply to to make sure you've met their LOR requirements. Thats the beauty of the pre-health committee letter. Here at UCD, they take all the LORs which can include those science/non-science professors and whatever else, and combine it to the committee letter which is derived from an interview and the before mentioned LORs.
