A few days ago I started a new thread entitled "Minorities in med school". After much contemplation, I realize how wrong it was for me to start such a controversial thread. I realize the ignorance of my argument and would like to express my deepest apologies for anyone that I may have offended. I created that particular thread without completly looking into the magnitude of the situation. These schools do have their place. They serve the underserved and that is a good enough purpose for me. I posted some very uncooth remarks on that thread and now feeled shamed by the way I acted and some of the things I posted. I also feel as though some of the remarks that I made were taken the wrong way and misinterpreted. For the record, I am not a embittered med school reject. I am a junior in undergraduate school. Furthermore, it takes a lot to admit when you are wrong. I would greatly appreciate it if the students that I offended will forgive me for my thoughtless remarks and not continue the argument on this thread.

Yours,
Caraway

"Answer: The NAACP has a lot of political clout. The whole situation is ridiculous. Maybe if lots of people like us actually banded together to pressure the people in power and vote, things might change. Such is the power of the ballot, but only if it is exploited. I'm not sure if degrees from schools like these are seen as equivalent to normal schools, but if they are that is absurd. Regardless of ethnic origin, I don't want people with those qualifications treating me. I'm not even going to sugar coat anything."

aren't you the guy/girl that said this? wow. at least caraway has learned.

You know, it really takes a strong individual to admitt their mistakes! As a URM, I am happy that you stood up and decided to be a man (or woman if you are not male) about the whole situation. To me that shows alot of maturity! We all know how head strong pre-meds are! So I commend you on recognizing the problem and rectifying it.

👍 😀 😉

I don't know if you were the one who completely flamed me on that thread by looking up my stats on MDapplicants then saying they weren't deserving/good enough to get in to medical school where I did, but if you were I can forgive you. Just remember for next time around, saying and doing those things hit nerves and can hurt people's feelings. 🙁

It's OK, you didnt offend me....in fact I dont even know what the hell you're talking about but it's OK with me 😀
