Hi, I am very confused on the whole process of applying, and like when to acutally take my MCATS. I heard that out of the 2 times it is given that one month is better than the other. I am confused on secondaires, and just the process in general. Is there any site somebody can give or just state the whole process of applying. A certain timeline maybe...thanks a lot...

Hi,

Here's an excellent site to find most everything you need to know about the process:

http://www.jhu.edu/~preprof/health/currapps/currapps.html

It has a calendar and a guide booklet for starters.

A couple things to keep in mind.

1. Submit everything as early as possible. This is most schools have a rolling admissions policy.

2. Applying this year means you are going for a spot NEXT year. Submitting the AMCAS (the primary application) in July of this year means I am going for admission into the August 2004 entering class.

3. MCAT is offerred in April and August. Best to take the April one. Taking the August one means you'll have to wait until September or so for your scores to be received so your application can be processed.

4. Look into and seek out help from your school's Premedical office. Chances are, they have a Premedical Committee service, which you will need during the application process.

Hope this helps,

Getting the book "medical school admissions requirement" from AAMC is also a good idea .

If you want to start medical school after ones senior year, take the test April of Junior year or August of sophmore year.
