med school & Xdancing?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Don't know about the background check but working while a med student is probably next to impossible if you want to do well, regardless of what job.

guarantee that if she did, she would make a ton more money, probably from the students.

i had a stripper tell me that she was a dental student and then she turned out to be full of crap when i quizzed her on the difference between general and inorganic chemistry. and i have had a ton of strippers say they are trying to work their way through nursing school. BS! this may come as a shock but write it down because it is important: Strippers are full of s**t.

kidding, i've never been to a strip club.

Errmm... I don't know what the difference is between general and inorganic chemistry, either. Not really sure that means I can't ever be a med student.

...or maybe you are a stripper?

In all seriousness, I just had a presentation by a COM dean stressing the importance of professionalism as we begin our medical careers. If your friend insists on working during medical school, I would advise him/her to seek a job that would not cause others to question his/her professionalism or maturity.

Sorry I meant general and organic. And I never said that strippers couldn't be med students. Personally, Ithink this girl is full of crap. Stripping in the same city you go to school in is going to open a door for every student to come see her nude and 95% of people will likely take advantage of this opportunity which would be one of the dumbest things she could do for herself and her career. Someone thinking this would end well is a fool.

You can't strip in the same city. Drive a few hours and she would probably be fine.

I don't think it is a sign of being unprofessional like aspiringdo said. People have different views on stuff and she could probably work like 5 hours a week and have plenty of time for school. If she is already getting good grades then she is obviously capable of working hard. Just because she is a stripper on the side that doesn't make her full of **** or a bad person. If she wants to do it then I say go for it. I would recommend doing it at least an hour from campus though because it is true if instructors and stuff hear about it then many of them will think down on her in a big way.

definitely unprofessional because of the negative public perception.
'unprofessional' includes anything that reflects badly on the school or the profession at large.
med school deans are notoriously allergic to negative publicity.

Hopefully this is a joke. Medicine is a very conservative profession, and licensing boards don't look highly towards convictions for pandering. Most escorts end up with a conviction or two -- you'd probably pay a fine, but the conviction shows up in your background check --it's part of the cost of doing business. Basically every time you go out, you run the risk of an arrest and put your whole medical career in jeopardy. So too working in a strip club where others might not be playing by the rules (which risks a raid of the whole place and can create a need to explain an entanglement with law enforcement). If you want to join a profession like medicine (or law, dentistry or anything else where licensing is involved), it's smart to steer clear of this kind of stuff. Find yourself a sugar daddy without the business transaction component -- ie marry rich.

I am SO using this as an interview question!

So those who know me on here know that this question cannot be about myself lol...
I have developed a friendship with a fellow pre-med who has been using stripping as a means to pay for school. I was pleasantly surprised to find she has good grades in her difficult major (chemistry). Anyway I am very curious, won't her license show up when they run a background check on her? Would it stop her from being accepted? She also told me she plans on choosing a school based on if there are strip clubs in the area so she can continue to make $, would schools even allow that? I highly doubt this question comes up very often, but the subject really intrigues me lol so wondering your thoughts!
