Hey guys,

Im from canada at the university of waterloo and i just finished first year. I took my biology, chem, calc courses and electives but i only took 1 semester of physics.

I want to know if there are any american medical schools that have minumum undergraduate years where which i can apply to. If there are any canadians who went to an american med school, would u care to share your experiences?

Thanks in advance

After ONE year of undergrad? LOLOLOLOL

You can't even APPLY to med school in the U.S. until you have 90 credit hours (read: three years).

most schools require a bachelors to matriculate, hang in there cowboy

You need to take it easy. You could have spread all of those prereqs out over 4 years but you did them all at once. Why, may I ask, would you do that?

Canadian programs have all the prereqs in first year. These are the Life Sciences or Biomed programs. And then in 2nd year, we take all the orgo chem and then we'll have all the prereqs. Is it different in the states?

Also, to OP, just wait it out for another few years. I'm a Canadian who applied.

Most American schools require you to have 90 hrs or at least a bachelor's degree. I haven't heard of anyone that got in with 3 years of undergrad. Besides, don't you want to apply to Canadian med schools?

thanks for the input

i just wanted to make sure in advanced, since i think most med schools in the U.S want 2 semesters of physics, i dont know if im correct about that tho

And yeah, im required to take all those courses in first year, it wasn't really a choice.

Im definitely thinking of canadian schools, but competition here is pretty big and i know its the same if not more in the U.S. I just wanted an idea of medical schools in the U.S. if the canadian ones don't work out.

which schools did u apply to in the states?

US Prereq's
2 semesters (1yr) organic chem
2 semesters (1yr) general chem
2 semesters (1yr) biology
2 semesters (1yr) physics
+ Minimum 90 units

Unwritten (and, I've never heard of it being broken) Rule
Bachelors degree - many schools don't "require" it... that is, until they send you the paperwork for admissions where they stipulate that, in order to matriculate, you must finish your BS. Then you sign.
