Hi folks,
Does anyone know how much information is included in a Med Student's record when applying to residency? Do they keep your LOR from when you applied to med school, your AMCAS, MCAT scores, your undergrad materials?

Or is basically a clean slate upon entering med school and you're only assessed on what you do there for residency?

I'd prefer responders who have concrete information on this (ie: Have requested and looked into their student records) or who are associated with the residency application process.

Thanks very much in advance.

Yours,
Sam

The school has all that information, but no they don't forward it to residencies except the name of your undergrad.

There are some undergrad stuff that goes into ERAS/CV, especially research, jobs, and professional organizations. Check out https://www.aamc.org/students/medstudents/eras/ to see the actual application. There's a powerpoint at the bottom showing what's included. Also, check out sample "dean's letters".

So the short answer, nobody cares about your MCAT, undergrad LORs, GPA, etc. You pretty much have a clean slate from the first day of MS-1.
