hey fa mention that in carpal tunnel syndrome there is loss of sensation of palm but why ? since the superficial palmar branch do not pass within the tunner so sensation will be spared
I just searched through FA2014 and it makes no mention of loss of palmar sensation for carpal tunnel syndrome. On pg.412 all it says is paresthesia, pain, and numbness in the distribution of median nerve which isn't entirely wrong.
Palmar sensation is from palmar cutaneous n. The branch of median that doesn't pass through the carpal tunnel.
The fingers get sensation from the median nerve itself (or some other branch that isn't the palmar cutaneous branch). Whatever it is, it passes through the carpal tunnel.
