Hey guys...one of my friends had some complications with an appendix removal and ended up with some really bad scarring on her lower abdomen. She is very self concious about these as would anyone her age. I was wondering if you guys knew of any current procedures/medications/treatments for scars out there these days that I could recommend to her to help reduce it.

Vitamin E liquid applied daily to the scar might help. Also, there are some OTC oils that claim to help with scarring. Tell her to check at the local Walgreen's/CVs, etc. Down the road, a scar revision is always a surgical option.

topical creams/lotions arent going to get you anywhere. Depending on the age of the scar there are options of injections, radiation, and revision (with knowledge of her scarring). Revision with care towards healing is likely the only option worth considering.
