  1. Attending Physician
Anyone has experience being a medical director or a rehab unit?
What exactly does the job entail on top of your clinical responsibilities.

Its a lot of work. You are the interface between the rehab unit and administration. Its a lot more than just determining who is qualified to come to the rehab unit. You have to maintain relations with referring physicians. If you are at a larger unit you have to set the agenda for the other admitting physicians. You have a role in quality issues, compliance issues, and then you have to be a doctor on top of all of it.

I agree w/ Xardas comments, I am a medical director in a community hospital's 18 bed rehab unit, its not just determining who come to unit, marketing to referring providers, making sure physicians are compliant with Medicare regulations such as seeing patients w/in 24 hours of admission to unit if they are admitting patient, seeing the patient minimum number of times a week as required by medicare, worrying about RAC audits, dealing w/ administration and their whims, etc. on top of seeing patients.
