My friend and I are sitting here surfing through SDN, and we have a question for budding/current dermatologists. Both of us were discussing how we had bad acne as teens - mine was moderate to severe, pustular. I was a pimple popper, so now I have some of those little pock-mark type tiny holies in my pores. My skin cleared up a LOT since going on the pill, though I still have the occasional pimple or two even well into adulthood (especially around periods.)

Question - can anything be done for uneven skin - both texture and color/tone - that isn't going to cost an arm and leg? I am not vain, not into cosmetic procedures, and I'd rather live with a couple pimples than undergo any costly or involved treatments. But out of curiosity, what would be the treatment of choice? Dermabrasion? Chemical peels? Anything over the counter that works?

Thanks for your help.

Microdermabrasion would probably help and is not too expensive. I believe it is around $100 per treatment for an area such as the face. It's also simple and quick. It would probably take a number of treatments depending on severity.
