You know, I wish someone had a picture of the Columbia-Presbyterian lobby. That glass pyramid is both visually interesting and extremely cool. The pictures quoted above are mostly of the older section, which is pretty in and of itself, but doesn't really do the new hospital justice.

You know, I wish someone had a picture of the Columbia-Presbyterian lobby. That glass pyramid is both visually interesting and extremely cool. The pictures quoted above are mostly of the older section, which is pretty in and of itself, but doesn't really do the new hospital justice.

OHSU does not have the most beautiful buildings...but I believe that it is probably in the best location and has some of the coolest features like a VERY long skybridge, it is on top of a hill overlooking downtown Portland, it has a sky-tram, most of the buildings are on the edge of a cliff so usually the floor that you enter on will be the 10th floor or above.

Haha crazy, it reminds me of a ski resort. I imagine if you're a student there though, the endless sky-tram rides get kind of old.

One would think so...but I will often go for a run and take the sky-tram down to the waterfront at sunset and if the sky is clear you can see Mt. Hood and it is just beautiful. Everyone will be in aww from first time riders to Docs that have been working there for years. Also at night looking at downtown portland with all of the lights on is really cool

OHSU is awesome, I liked the architecture and the setting - near perfection for being in a medical center if you ask me. Somehow those Columbia images still don't show me anything exciting, but that could just be me.

Columbia University Medical Center is really impressive when you're actually standing there in the middle of it. It's architecture is very much classic New York City-- Gotham City to the max. Here's an aerial view.

Seriously...I don't even remember seeing the buildings in the second and third photo. It makes me wonder how misleading all the other med school photos are...

Well they could be buildings in the SUNY Downstate Medical Center. I dont know much about the school itself but they came up during a search - they may not be the student buildings. However the main building is basically a bunker.

Oh, that might explain it...we didn't tour the main hospital complex, which is pretty huge. Maybe that's where all those modern-looking awesome buildings are.

Yeah generally the medical complexes will have huge endowments for lab specific or clinical trial hospital buildings hence they are very nice. Student buildings are second or third rate b/c they are just used to teach. But some of the above pictures are pretty nice for students I think.

I dont want to spend four years and a lot of money on a place I may not even enjoy being inside of. Or I may have no choice haha.
