Almost every school requires a background check before enrolling. I am curious is it just a criminal background check or does the school do a comprehensive check on applicant like verify the student's educational, employment, and volunteer history?

I doubt that many, if any, schools would have the resources to conduct detailed investigations into your volunteer history. They basically take your word for it on whatever you listed on AACOMAS and in your secondaries/interviews. Your educational history is verified via you having to send in official transcripts. See the link above for info about criminal history, etc.
