Hi
My medical school has sent me a book list and has asked me to buy them before matriculation. Should I buy all the items required, or should I just use the prof's slides?
While in my undergrad I never did my readings and instead was comfortable just studying from power point slides.
Note: People have also suggested that I only get an anatomy book and a pathology book. Why do you guys and gals think?
Thank you

Don't buy any books yet!

My school sent me what was a library of books to read. I ended up using only like 2 of them. Otherwise it was basically slides from class along with the other board stuff (FA, etc)

Often times, upperclassman have "ways" they hand down required books as well. If you are one who actually needs these books you can buy them no problem later. Better to question upperclassmen first however.

I'd get an anatomy app. That plus umich anatomy and various others like albany, downstate, etc. for anatomy are all the resources you need. I bought a bunch of books that I never touched. Really the only books you need are first aid and maybe brs physio and thats for the middle of second year

The only book I would potentially buy now is your school's preferred anatomy atlas; you will definitely use that. After that though, I would wait until you need a book during the year before buying it. Use amazon prime with next day shipping for just an extra $3.99.

Pro Tip: Your med school's library may be providing some required texts as e-books for free (well, kind of free... student fees)

Buy Netters anatomy atlas, BRS physio, and First Aid. Those will be the only three books you will need in the first 2 years. I also really liked the Netters flash cards and highly suggest them.
