Hello,

I am new member of SDN even though I have read a bunch of the forums. I was just wondering if any of you could speak a little bit about the lab experience in medical school.

Thank you so much for your time!

But are they difficult or weighed a lot in the grade? How often do you do them?

I think that's going to vary considerably with the class, school, and instructor. IME some bump your grade up slightly for perfect or near perfect attendance, in others attendance is expected and you can fail if you skip out. Also, less officially, your group may well not be happy with you if you don't show and put more work on them.

Agreed with above. Really depends on the class and school. Anatomy lab for us was required but not points were giving, there was just a practical test. Micro lab wasn't graded either but it was required, but it was one 4 hour block. Cell just incorporated everything onto the main test so there was no separate lab grade. Cardio had a lab portion that was worth 50% of the grade almost and was pretty much gimme points.

PBL IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.

Oh and so is ethics. Everything else is relatively ok depending on your interest level.
