Your GPAs are lethal for mD and circling the drain for DO. A high MCAT will merely highlight the disparities between the stats. So basically, I aim to take the mcat by January. Practice exams, either the AAMC and Kaplan ones, I have been scoring around the 88th percentile. Which I believe is a 513, if I am not mistaken. I have about 100 EMT hours, doing wound care rounds, volunteered at a hospital, did some community service (turkey drive for thanksgiving, giving school supplies to underprivileged kids and giving toys away for Christmas) and I am going to shadow a physician over the summer. I don’t have any research experience but I am actively searching for an opportunity.
Only thing I am worried about is my GPA. My science gpa is a 3.1 and my cumulative gpa is a 3.0 (I messed up on women gender classes, very left college requires such classes.) I'm in the process of retaking cell bio and bio 2 since I have Ds in them. More than likely have As in said classes. Basically, with all that my cumulative science gpa would be about a 3.2 and my overall gpa will be a 3.094. Do I have a realistic shot at getting into medical school if get a 515 on the mcat? That is the score I am going for.
