I am applying this cycle and am waiting to be verified by AMCAS. I currently have over 5 letters of recommendation from either volunteering/work places and 1 from a non-science professor whom I did research under. I was supposed to have 2 additional letters from science professors but 1 suddenly moved out of state and has become unreachable and the other stopped responding. I graduated last year and was a non-science major so my options are limited for obtaining additional science letters, and so far no one is responding. My school does not have a premed committee or anything like that.

Luckily, my 2 instate medical schools don't require LOR from professors, and I am looking through the MSAR trying to see any other schools that also don't require it. So far I have only found Oakland. Is there any other schools that people are aware of? I'd really hate to only be able to apply to 3 schools this cycle.

Would it help to know that LORs from math professors are widely accepted for the science letter requirement?

The last math class I took was 7 years ago at a community college, I don't even remember the professor's name 🙁 Thanks for the suggestion though!

I'll just keep looking through the MSAR...but so far no luck. Could I call schools and ask for a waver? or is this a hard set requirement?

OP will simply have to do his/her homework on this one.

I would also suggest that LOR are the "least" checked for strict requirement fulfillment. You could simply ignore the specific requirement and simply comment on the secondary, many of which have a place for additional info, and note as a non-science major who recently moved out of state and have been unable to get the second science letter. Instead I have submitted letters from other professor to show my academic and learning ability. (my theme for the day is "be honest")

@Catalystik @Goro thoughts?

Thanks guys! I am slowly making my way through the MSAR and have also found that Rush and Georgetown don't require it for anyone else that is in my predicament and wondering where to apply.
