Hello. Well this quarter I'm taking stats and biology. I'm also taking an earth and space science about fossil fuels.
I'm a sophomore and I decided to take an upper div since I'm an enviro major.. little did I know that the class (the earth and scape science) was not so great.. I mean I am doing okay (about average) but i'm debating whether I should make the class pass/no pass (i'll still receive the untis for it if I get a Pass grade which I will).

how do med schools view just ONE p/np grade on the transcript???.. my other grades are pretty good (majority A's, 1-2 B's) and i'm doing good in other stuff.. any advice?

THanks.

As long as it isn't in a prerequisite course, it is doable. If you get asked about it in an interview are you going to say: "I thought I was going to get a bad grade so I elected to take the course pass/fail?"

My suggestion would be to suck it up and finish strong for a B or A. Either way, I don't think it's a deal breaker for your application.

It won't matter unless it is in pre-requisite course. I had a few on my transcript (mostly classes like Raquetball, or tennis) and never got asked about them.

yeah but your tennis units were only 1, right? Mines is 4.. I'm taking three classes (including this).

It's called "Earth's Energy: Diminishing Fossil Resources and Prospects for Sustainable Future" and it's suppose to be an upper div for my major. I just got unlucky because they just created this class..handled very poorly.

And @econ2Med: the fear is actually getting a C, which i've never gotten, and don't intend on.. even if it's a nonscience class.

So you're SURE that as long as it's not a prereq, i'm good? So P/NP don't count towards the GPA for any of the med schools (like, a "C" equivalent)?

I accidentally took an 3 credit, upper-level african studies class as Pass/No Pass. (Long story.) None of the med schools I interviewed at even mentioned it. They really don't care.

oh okay! thanks.. still not sure.. will probably stick to it :/
