I've noticed that there are limited pre dental post bacc/ SMP programs available, but there are a multitude of medical based post bacc programs. Is it acceptable to attend a medical based program when trying to apply and get accepted to dental schools?

Some university offers a formal post-bacc or pre-health post-bacc program for those who want to go into the health field. You can check on those.

Thanks for the reply! I'm aware of some of the schools that do the Special Masters Program and the Post Bacc, but majority of them are premedical based and I was wondering if that would matter when applying to dental schools?

Absolutely because you will be taking basic science courses at a medical school level. And if you do well in that program you have a good shot of getting accepted to dental schools.

Check out Georgetown's SMP, BU's GMS, and Loyola's M.A. in Medical Sciences. UMDNJ's biomedical sciences program is also well-known.

of course. most of the core classes you take are the same in medical and dental school. i took a post-bac that was really for anything but was probably targeted at med school. it was mostly biochemistry and physiology, which applies to us just as well.
