I am under the impression that a lot of medicine shelf/step2ck is focused on management, wht's the next step, wt's the initial step, etc. what books have you found to be good for these medical algorithms or management questions?

Pocket med or boards&wards or anything else? Do i really need these books??

Pocket Medicine is a must for the IM clerkship. Awesome book.

Pocket medicine is certainly a must have for the IM clerkship; however, I don't think it's necessarily very good for studying for this exam. That honor goes to MKSAP 3 for Students. Someone mentioned Saint Francis guide. I think it's very good to learn about medicine as an introductory text. I only read the renal chapter, but was very impressed with what I saw. When I did internal medicine, I mostly stuck with Harrison's.

Haven't heard of the Saint Francis guide. Pocket Medicine is almost comprehensive... I could find the answer to almost all UW questions in it.

pocket medicine is a great reference on the ward, but you need an actual review book for the exam - i don't think boards and wards would be that useful, each section is too short.
