Hey all,
So here goes: how the hell do you learn information during clerkships (specifically medicine)? I've been doing Uworld questions, but I feel like I just don't know so much of this. When doing Step 1 Uworld I was scoring in the 80s...now I'm hitting 60s, and I just feel like I am totally clueless about a lot of it. I tried reading StepUp, but felt like it was way too much dry information to retain. I just don't get it. Please help!

you are right it is hard. unfortunately what you learn on the floor is not necessary the right thing to do which compounds the issue. couple of years back I used the kaplan step 2 CK book and it helped me score pretty well on it.

http://som.uthscsa.edu/StudentAffairs/thirdyear.asp <-- try listening to the IM lecture. I did for Peds when I took step 3 and thought i was really good. either way its short something you can probably blow through in 1 sitting.

Kings county is a zoo if you are doing your rotation there.

Step Up is a terrible book, IMO.

UWorld, Kaplan QBook, FA for Step 2 CK, and some occasional Casefiles got me a very good score.

Floor experiences are useless.

What do you not like about Step Up exactly? I'm in IM right now and am using that book + Uworld and I think it's been working alright.

I found it to be a tedious read and abandoned it after about 15 pages. If it works for you, great. 👍 But FA seemed more streamlined to me.
