Any experience with externing or just in general at MedVet Columbus? I am specifically interested in cardiology, but I was told by them in the fall that they are no longer accepting student externs. To be fair, I'm not in my clinical year, but they did not specify to reach back out for clinical rotations. TIA!

I had multiple classmates do externships at that location, who then did internship year, and now multiple are either staff doctors or did their residency there. It truly was something like 4 or 5 classmates that were there and 3 or 4 stayed.

If they are no longer taking externs, then youre likely SOL for clinical year. It might be because students slow staff doctors down and the hospital wants to focus on the docs they have and/or the money they need to take in as the industry further contracts. It might be permanent. It never hurts to check back in the spring, but don't get your hopes up. My hospital is not taking students or new grads for 2026 and would not be shocked if that continues.
