Anyone meet their classmates yet? How do you like your class? I only met a fraction of them so far and they seem really friendly. I hope it stays like that for the next four years.

Our class set up a bar crawl the Saturday before orientation. It was good to meet people outside of school and have a few laughs before school started. Everyone has been very cooperative and friendly towards each other so far. Like you said, I hope it stays this way throughout school.

Wishful thinking.

Wishful thinking.

True..

1st year, most people get along, 2nd year, people start to get more annoying, By third year, you definitely know who you utterly can't stand, and for some people, that may be quite a few. True colors shine, then 4th year you know who they are and try to avoid as best as possible.

I just had my orientation yesterday. So far I like almost everyone in my class. Haven't met anyone who is antisocial or openly a jerk yet. My guess is that some people will start to become more competitive as classes start to increase in difficulty. There was a lot of backstabbing that happened at my undergraduate school. I expect there to be a few of those kinds of people at almost all schools, but don't let them ruin your overall experience.

I enjoy most of my classmates. Took some of them out to FRIENDS (an LGBT club in Prague, where my school is located), and we had a great time. Most of my classmates like me, though there's this one really conservative Christian who keeps annoying me...I keep telling him that he's here to learn dental surgery with me, not fix my GID.

There is definitely a honey moon phase at the start of school. That said, I highly encourage trying to get your class to continue bonding past that stage. Utilize ASDA or some other organization and try and organize social events, sport outings, friendly sports events, etc. Dental school is a lot more fun when you enjoy it with the people in the trenches with you!

The thing I like about my dental school is that they're really into festivals, outings, trips, and events. The upperclassmen said they went on ski trips, had picnics at the beach, camping, and even had proms! On Halloween, all the students and faculty dress up. Although I want to do my best in dental school, a big priority of mine is to make as much friends as possible and to have fun. I heard these 4 years fly by fast.

You have the right idea. Time goes by quick in dental school and these are the people who could be your best friends, your spouses, the colleague you rely on for help, and lots of other things in your future. There never is any sense in burning bridges but more than that, it's always better to have friends and people you know. Knowing dental students across the nation has its perks and you might only see them or talk to them occasionally. Your classmates are important and you should maximize your friendships with them. If no one takes the initiative in getting class events together, make sure you step up!
