Can I ask what about the school you fell in love with? I am just curious because I have an interview there which I am still going to attend even though I already have an acceptance. Why doesn't your Mom want you to go there?
They were very much a close-knit group of people. I really enjoyed meeting each of the professors I interviewed with (there were two). Everyone really wanted to help me out and I dont think this was just for show. They truly care about each other and help each other get through their studies and other personal issues. The professors also really care about the students and try to get to know them. All of them try their best to learn the names of all the students and they often go out for drinks, dinner, etc. (on the prof's tab!) It's easy to get involved and you wont just become another student!
Plus, I currently go to school at Vanderbilt (in Nashville) so I know alot of people here and it's convenient to me.
My mom doesn't want me to go there because she feels like "I could do better". She based her decisions on the school by its entrance requirements. But I don't want to go to a school for a name but for an experience and to truly learn. (What she doesn't realize is they have a very high specialization rate...especially for pediatrics! They also apparently do well on boards and passed their renewal accredidation with no recommendations for betterment, which is very rare.)

Oh ok. I can see why you would want to be a part of that experience. How are the facilities, clinics etc.?
They were okay. I actually interviewed with a girl who interviewed there last year. She said they had made alot of improvements. I wouldn't say the buidlings were beautiful but they were clean and nice.
They are building a brand new digital imagery room (replace old way of takin xrays) which should be done next semester. Alot of other schools apparently dont have this yet..

I havent heard much besides what is posted here on SDN and on the school's website. However, after reading all the negative posts, I did PM a current student there and he/ she absolutely loves it and said that the last class pass rate for the Step I for the boards was 98% at Meharry.
I didnt see any negative posts but maybe I wasnt looking very hard. What did they say?
