Anyone know anything about Meharry? I just got an interview invite and I want to learn a little bit more about it. Anyone know the % of accepted applicants from interviewees? I heard Meharry students rotate at Vandy which is awesome! Anyone have any experiences with this school? Thanks!😀

"bump!" cmon guys help a guy out

School is in disrepair.

You can do your 4th year rotations at vandy (but you can do these away rotations at any school)

Go there if its your only acceptance, its still a US med school so its not "bad" but its definitly lower quality.

Anything specific u wanna know?

I got accepted to MSU-COM (which is ranked 5th in primary care despite the DO) and I was wondering what you guys think in comparison. What does the residency placement look like? I am not the top of the litter when it comes to pre-meds but my 3.65 gpa is hanging me on. I am also not black so I am not sure that I would fit in. I do like the Vandy alliance though...any opinions?

I go to MSU-CHM. And see MSU-COM students every day. Take MSU-COM over Meharry hands down

is there a reason why? I mean would the MD letters be worth goin to Meharry over....it doesnt bother me to be a DO ...especially coming from MSU-COM

You will have a better education at MSU-COM. MUCH better school, better proffesors facilities, more money, more options. MSU-COM is like a top top DO school, and michigan is very DO friendly. If you want you can go to you meharry interview and you will totally see what I mean.

Congrats on your acceptance!

Thanks! I was just trying to see if it was worth flying out there...Not too fond of Tenn and MSU is a big school...which is the type of environment I like. MEharry's MD is attractive but I just dont know if the education I receive will set me up for the residency I want ....such as int med and then onc

In some states the whole MD vs. DO thing may be a minor issue. but in michigan i think you would be set. MSU-COM is a great program

how do you like msu-chm? What type of residency you shooting for? any suggestions/comments about msu? Things you like/dont like etc? Thanks for all of your help!

I like MSU quite a bit. There are some differences in the CHM program. We are taking anatomy PLUS everything else right now, where COM poeple get anatomy out of the way over summer and do their DO stuff now.

Im looking into surgery or emergency medicine right now, but im still very open. I think u'll find that MSU grads go everywhere despite the "primary care" focus.

Camtasia lecture recordings are amazing. I don't know what i would do without them...I dont see how otheres survive. Like today i missed 3 hours of class but was able to make it up in about 70 minutes thanks to camtasia lecture recordings at 2.3 speed.

Also im a big fan of the anatomy prosections.

I don't like how expensive MSU is, parking sucks, and theres a decent amount of walking due to the large campus. Lots of great study spots and that "small college" feel in a huge university.

Most of the DO's seem very pleased with their program.

If you're not going to Meharry then how are you so sure it's in "disrepair?"

I also got an interview there and I would like to know more about the school, student observations would be nice.

hmmm...anyone else have any experience with the school???

the Meharry students sometimes use our med library over here at Vandy which makes me wonder if they even have a library over on that side of town (its not like the schools are very close or anything, they are definitely driving over here).

I'm sure they get a good medical education over there but I think the mission of the school isn't what I'm looking for in a medical school (i.e. I'm into research). Nashville is a nice place to live if thats any saving grace (October weather is wonderful)

I interviewed and was accepted there.

The elevator didn't even have buttons

 To call the elevator you just hold your shirt button and shout the floor# where you wanna go. bluetooth at its best my friend, not lack of buttons!
