LECOM was a nice school. I mean the faculty were really engaging and the facility was brand new and very modern. Sure they do not have an established reputation and PBL can be off-putting, but I'm sure their curriculum works for some people. I haven't interviewed at Meharry so I can't speak about that institution, but I'm sure it isn't bad.

Getting into dental school is an accomplishment on its own! There are so many people that are dying for ONE acceptance. This person has gotten 2 acceptances to dental school. Please don't make them feel like what they did isn't a great accomplishment.

OP: I really liked LECOM, but PBL is really not for me. However, you do get an early exposure to clinical procedures and there seems like there will be a giant patient pool for you to work on.

Go to LECOM. I live in TN and can speak to Meharry's reputation...I'd take a chance on a brand new program over them.

NYU offered me a scholarship but i turned it down bc i just cant live up there with all the chaos

and $400k+ debt..what kind of scholarship did you get to NYU with a 19AA? There must hundreds of applicants with higher DAT and GPA stats

I say Meharry! It is a lovely school and I got accepted there but I turned it down because I got into GRU! I loved it and Nashville is a great city to live in. But go where you feel most comfortable no one can tell you where to go. It has to be your decision. Good luck on deciding and remember people can talk down all they want to about Meharry but dental school is dental school they are all hard as hell. Just remember when you graduate your degree will say DDS or DMD.

It was 20k per year..they are looking for well rounded individuals and applicants who are interesting beyond just academics. which hundreds of applicants are most certainly not

and FYI..the average gpa for incoming students is like a 3.4

yes..it was 20k each year, but that just made it the same price as the other schools.
