Good luck everyone that has an interview tomorrow! Can't wait to meet everyone 🙂 God bless!:luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:😀

Even with my nerves all over the place and sweat drippin' down my shirt...LOL...I really think it went well! Didn't have a hard question or was given a hard time. Everyone was super nice and REAL! 😀 👍 Pray for me ya'll! 🙂

does anyone here know if meharry accepts informal post-bacs? Thanks

ccoke, are you talking about taking classes on your own to beef up your application or something else?

Good luck everyone!!!..I absolutely love that school.. Praying for the Best!!!

Well I have graduated UG and was wondering if taking the pre-reqs at a 4-year institution will be sufficient for an acceptance somewhere in the future.

Yes,ccoke04, they like seeing really strong grades in your pre-reqs..... if you take more upper division biology courses that would also help as well. They especially would like the undergrad science scores to be pretty strong.. the higher, the better. Of course it is not all about the numbers and they look at your overall application, but having great numbers can only help you.At the interview they said they look for overall and science GPA to be 3.0 and the on the DAT you should have a 17 in each section to be competitive for the dental class. Overall, a strong GPA and DAT scores should get you in anywhere. I hope that my answer was helpful 🙂

has anyone heard anything from meharry???

No, I haven't heard anything. Still praying VERY hard and keeping the faith. I hope they will let us know soon so I can start making future plans. Good luck to everyone.:luck::luck:

Did anyone hear anything?
I applied and interviewed for the postbac program last year and was told during my interview that I was in by my interviewer.during my interview we talked about everything except my application. It was like the more I tried to turn the interview around so I could sell myself the more they talked about other nonrelated events. It put a bitter taste in my mouth about the school when I didn't get in because I felt it unecessary to tell me I'm in when you don't know how the rest of the committee will vote. I began to feel the only reason I was told I was in was bc my interviewer was too lazy to review my file and wasn't interested in interviewing me. We talked about a dentist she dated that I knew and several other dentists we both knew in savannah, ga she even gave me her phone number to have them call her on my behalf(totally unprofessional) I don't want to kill anyone's hopes on getting in but last year it was about 60 of us interviewing for 10-15 seats and from what I heard majority of the seats were given to applicants with alumni pull. I got my letter on april 1st stating that I had not been waitlisted nor rejected and was still in the running. However on May ist I got a letter stating I was rejected. I advise everyone who has interviewed to have a plan b b/c I've been applying for dental school since 2004 interviewed for meharrys post bac twice and dental class three times. I finally got into dental school this cycle. However I decided not to attend the meharry.I thought I'd inform all about the process. So to everyone good luck.

I got a letter saying that I am on the alternate list for the postbac and if a seat would become available I will be notified immediately. anyone else get this letter today? im really praying for the best . DST 05 congrats on getting it but can you tell us why you decided not to go?

Meharry is a great school despite it's flaws because every school has them. I decided not to attend Meharry because I completed a summer program at the dental school I'll be attending this fall and fell in love with the school(facilities, faculty and student relationship) and the location. I have one last thing to say about meharry's postbac and I'll be done. Please have a PLAN B period especially if you don't have meharry alum pull. Don't get me wrong there are those that get in without it but I would hate for anyone to be waiting to get in like I was: having interviewed with Meharry since fall 2003 (before mrs. connolly was there) and obtained a Masters degree. Please be smart, out of the three pre-dental students in my master's program that interviewed for post-bac last year none of us were selected.

Yeap I know it seemed like they already had their ppl picked already. Wish really pissed me off. It seem like they were just bring us out their to just tryin to be nice. I havn't got anythin yet but u never know with them what will happen. But u know every school has good things and bad things about them. But u always need an plan B if u don't know any alumi and parents don't have money thats what I here.

But whats funny is that if u look in the aadsas dental book that tells u about the GPA or DAT. the numbers don't add up to what they askin for and for some ppl that get in.

Thats true. But maybe there where other aspects of their application that stood out ( i.e. community service, upward trend, etc.) They do look at the whole application. Maybe they had alumni pull, who knows.. Just in general, the application process is tricky. You could have a 20 DAT and 3.9 and with a great application and still not get in anywhere. Real talk, you should work hard to improve you application so that you can have choices. That is what I will continue doing because I KNOW that dentistry is for me. The only person that can get me in is Jesus, pretty much. If this is my year, this is my year, amd no one can take that away from me. Im going to keep on trying.
Sorry for the sermon..lol..🙂:luck:

You are absolutely right.when it's your time to get in God will make a way. He did for me and I interviewed with every school I applied to and got into my top school.

I interviewed last year as well, and I understand where you're coming from DST05, but at the same time, I had "alumni pull", and was interviewed by 2 of my undergrads Alumni (which went very interview style). I wasn't accepted either, though I did get the Not Rejected Not Accepted letter as well which has False Hope written all over it IMO, but I still think MMC is a great school and look forward to applying again.

Everyone still waiting, best of luck, and again DST05 in absolutely right...have a Plan B.

Just my 2 cents...

How long did it take for the office to notify you of a final decision Bman1047?

If you all don't mind posting what did the letters that you all received from Meharry say. We are all in the same waiting game and it would be good to know what we may be expecting to receive.

I was interim recommended for post-bac. Kind of in a gray area, lol. Just hoping for some good news 🙂:luck::luck:

Well at least it was not the "not accepted letter". I know one other person that interviewed on the same date that I interviewed and they have already received the "not accepted letter". I received the same letter that both of you received in early December. I am hoping for the best and keeping the faith.

ditto for me too guys.. interim.. i pray we all get good news soon👍

Yeah I got the same letter! I will be praying for the best!:xf:

This waiting game is killing me, has anyone heard anything from Meharry?

U know what that means. Hell we want hear anything until two weeks. LOL CPT. CPT will always keep u waiting.

I realllllllyy hope you all make it!! Keep praying!! Im over here trying to get outta Howard and get prepped for dental school, its tough but you guys give me hope!

Thanks, Talisa! I know that that God will bless you on your dental journey as well.😀:luck::luck::luck: I am praying HARD for all of us!

Hey guys...I'm so late on this, but I got the 'recommended' letter last month. Hopefully we'll hear something by next week. Jesus, help! 🙂

LOL.....Violet.. Thats how I feel and to make matters worse, I have finals the week that they will make the decision! Sigh..:scared::luck::xf:

Comprehensive lecture and Lab histology finals.:scared: The Lab final is tomorrow!!!!🙁

Hey all! I am new to all of this, but I also interviewed in March, and also got a letter saying I was recommended and on the alternate list and should space open up they would let me know. I was wondering if it also said to send your transcripts? I mean I updated them on AADSAS back in December, so I assumed that was good enough, and I don't get any new grades because I graduate May 15th? What did you all do? Also, when are we suppose to hear, I am dying over here!!!
