Hey guys, I finally heard from Meharry yesterday. 😀 My interview date is 3/10...Let me know if anyone has the same date 🙂
I applied and interviewed for the postbac program last year and was told during my interview that I was in by my interviewer.during my interview we talked about everything except my application. It was like the more I tried to turn the interview around so I could sell myself the more they talked about other nonrelated events. It put a bitter taste in my mouth about the school when I didn't get in because I felt it unecessary to tell me I'm in when you don't know how the rest of the committee will vote. I began to feel the only reason I was told I was in was bc my interviewer was too lazy to review my file and wasn't interested in interviewing me. We talked about a dentist she dated that I knew and several other dentists we both knew in savannah, ga she even gave me her phone number to have them call her on my behalf(totally unprofessional) I don't want to kill anyone's hopes on getting in but last year it was about 60 of us interviewing for 10-15 seats and from what I heard majority of the seats were given to applicants with alumni pull. I got my letter on april 1st stating that I had not been waitlisted nor rejected and was still in the running. However on May ist I got a letter stating I was rejected. I advise everyone who has interviewed to have a plan b b/c I've been applying for dental school since 2004 interviewed for meharrys post bac twice and dental class three times. I finally got into dental school this cycle. However I decided not to attend the meharry.I thought I'd inform all about the process. So to everyone good luck.Did anyone hear anything?
Meharry is a great school despite it's flaws because every school has them. I decided not to attend Meharry because I completed a summer program at the dental school I'll be attending this fall and fell in love with the school(facilities, faculty and student relationship) and the location. I have one last thing to say about meharry's postbac and I'll be done. Please have a PLAN B period especially if you don't have meharry alum pull. Don't get me wrong there are those that get in without it but I would hate for anyone to be waiting to get in like I was: having interviewed with Meharry since fall 2003 (before mrs. connolly was there) and obtained a Masters degree. Please be smart, out of the three pre-dental students in my master's program that interviewed for post-bac last year none of us were selected.I got a letter saying that I am on the alternate list for the postbac and if a seat would become available I will be notified immediately. anyone else get this letter today? im really praying for the best . DST 05 congrats on getting it but can you tell us why you decided not to go?

Yes,ccoke04, they like seeing really strong grades in your pre-reqs..... if you take more upper division biology courses that would also help as well. They especially would like the undergrad science scores to be pretty strong.. the higher, the better. Of course it is not all about the numbers and they look at your overall application, but having great numbers can only help you.At the interview they said they look for overall and science GPA to be 3.0 and the on the DAT you should have a 17 in each section to be competitive for the dental class. Overall, a strong GPA and DAT scores should get you in anywhere. I hope that my answer was helpful 🙂
How long did it take for the office to notify you of a final decision Bman1047?
I was interim recommended for post-bac. Kind of in a gray area, lol. Just hoping for some good news 🙂![]()
