hey guyz
I have a question . I m originally from california, southern california and Iam a very (as other say "spoild " child) I can stand on my own and be independent very easily but I happened to love my parents so much and it made me stay with them till now (even though I could moved out )
I took the DAT for the second round and I do not think it get me through any cal schools,(spc my RC) so I wanted to apply to mehhary or minesota cuz I heard they get easier on you. so I was wondering if you guys think that specialy in mehhary I can hold up ? or should i take the dat one more time ? I just dont want to sit home another year and il do anything for it!!!!!
thank you

If your parents are really well off, it would probably be good to apply to a school like NYU, where high costs deter many applicants. On paper to me it looks like the easiest dental school to get into is Tennessee. However, I think the reason is that it is located in Memphis, which low and behold has the 2nd highest crime rate of all cities in the US, with Detroit being number 1. Thus, the applicant number is very low (466 last year, with avg GPA 3.45, DAT 18, and 29 slots available to out of staters)

Thank you so much
my parents are well off and they can pay the fee without me getting loans, but in NYU website it mentions that if you have below 17 in any of the 5 subjects you shouldent be applying is that the case ? 🙁 I have 15 for my RC and 17 for PAT
😕

15 RC and 17 PAT could hurt you, as they would be under the cutoff for many schools, which you'll have to research. Most importantly make sure to apply early, and apply everywhere that doesn't have cutoffs for RC/PAT. It may or may not be worth applying depending on how well you did on the other sections of the DAT. If that doesn't work out, hit the books and study a couple months for another DAT retake. Get DAT Destroyer, American Chemical Society workbooks, crack DAT PAT, Cliffs AP bio, etc if you don't have them already.

It is actually not as easy to get into as it looks on paper, and out-of-state students must have much higher stats than the ones on predents. The word-on-the-street, bottom-of-the-barrel cutoff point for GPA this year was about 3.4-3.5. As someone who was rejected from Tennessee this year, I am interested to see what the statistics will look like when the dust settles. They do historically accept under-represented minorities with slightly lower stats, but I have a hunch that their averages this year will be quite high anyway. Tennessee also favors a high RC score.

The applicant number is low because Tennessee does not use AADSAS. Memphis is also a lot more awesome than its unfortunate crime statistics would suggest. In short, there are a lot of tennesseeans who would love to go to UT-Memphis, so please don't apply to this school if you're just "slumming it" by doing so. Also, by your logic, Detroit Mercy should be the easiest school to get into, right? Good day!

Good info, thanks. You're probably right about difficulty of acceptance. I have a friend who got accepted into Tennessee vet school, and she said that it was the most interrogative interview of all the schools she got interviews. Tennessee residents would probably choose Tennessee Dental School due to costs; however, I still question how well out-of-state slots fill. I wouldn't touch Detroit-Mercy with a 200 mile pole, but I guess that's just me. I don't feel like having to invest in hobo stab insurance.
