I have started on the Kaplan book, trying to finish the bio section.

I have noticed that while I am on chapter 9 now, the info from the beginning chapters (although is not gone at all) is starting to become less clear (obviously) as I move to newer chapters and info.

this, and I haven't even gotten to orgo/general chem yet!!!

do people just read through the chapters once + solve questions at the end? or what? advice please!

haha welcome to the DAT my friend...this is what happens to almost every single person that starts studying for the DAT. Your not alone, when you read 1 section and then move to another you will forget the past section...thats why you have to read every section probably 5 times haha. Thats why this test is so hard, limited time to understand a vast amount of information. Its testing your ability to manage it all...good luck and your not alone

lol, its good to know I'm not alone!

so, what do we do? I can understand reading the chapters like 5 times. Whats the level of recall we need for the actual exam?

i turned the kaplan book into a giant stack of flash cards, and went through them 2-3 times a week. it was a giant pain but it helped a lot.

lol...you're not supposed to read the entire book. You're supposed to condense it even more. The kaplan book is a condensed version of your text book. Compresson your kaplan book down to the relevent info, then go back and review that info. Kinda like flash cards, but not.

Just read and read and re-read and re-read....

When I studied, I had a 15 page orgo study guide that just had reactions from Kaplan which I studied every other day. Besides that, I studied 3 chapters of either new bio. or gen. chem. material and went over what I had studied the previous day. Hope this helps/makes sense.
