So I'm currently in this research program in my school that ends in august. At the end of the program I will present my project at a symposium held by the institute. In addition, my mentor told me I could present my project at the National Research Honors Society (Sigma Xi) in san Francisco comes October. I was totally down to do it. So when i finished describing my research in the activities section on AMCAS, i mentioned that I will be presenting my project at both the institute AND this national meeting, and submitted.
For a number of reasons, it became apparent that I MAY not end up presenting at sigma ( i will present locally though). How serious is this? Will it be looked at as lying? do interviews/acceptance decisions typically happen before October? if it is brought up in the interview, is it harmless if I just mention that it didn't go through? My application is not verified yet; if i withdraw so i can remove that sentence, can I resubmit again this cycle?? any input from those with knowledge about the matter is appreciated
