Hi all,

So this question goes for both MD and DO apps. I am making use of my gap year by working at a hospital as a PCA/PCT full time and volunteering outside of this with mentoring at-risk youth in math and science.

I just secured my spot with the mentoring program for the summer (if not the next full year, but I'll approach that topic as the date comes), however not yet the clinical job as a PCA. I've applied to a few different hospitals around where I live and have a floor manager's recommendation, so I am pretty sure that I have a good shot.

Should I mention these in the secondary applications that I am currently writing or should I write a personal update to each school and update them with this? Can the update ONLY be after I start working/have something meaningful to say about them, or can I send the update/secondary before I start working and just let them know that I'm not being a bum?

Thank you
HR

When they ask this, say what you have secured and what you are trying/planning to secure. Once those additional plans have been secured, then you update the school.

I'm applying to a lot of schools that have solid foundations in community service. Is it enough that I will have experience in public service and clinical experience over the next year, or will it be no bueno that I haven't experienced it prior to applying?
