mentioning waitlists in research interview?

I'm currently on 3 waitlists and I have an interview coming up for a research job at one of the schools I am currently waitlisted at. Should I mention that I'm waitlisted at med schools right now or just say that I'm taking 2 years off to work and applying to med school next year?

I found out the PI is the director of the preclinical years at the med school and this school is my top choice and I am waitlisted there as well. Would I be screwed over by him if I got accepted there and had to quit after a month of working only to have him teaching a few of my 1st and 2nd year classes just because I didn't mention I was on any waitlists? If I do get this job I'm sure it would be a great opportunity for a LOR especially for this school.

I don't know why you would mention it. Expecting him to pull some strings for you is a reach at best. If you're asked, be honest. If not, the information is irrelevant.

No, and no.

If he doesn't serve on the admissions committee, he can pull no strings. He can, however, give the job to someone else who isn't on any waitlists and doesn't have the potential to skip out on him after a month. Keep your med schools plans on the DL, or at least, as something you'd like to do in the future.

alright thanks i wont mention anything about it. i wasnt expecting him to pull any strings for me to get off the waitlist. he would just be very helpful applying the second time around next year. i was just worried that if i do get accepted there he might hate me because he is in charge of all the 1st and 2ns year classes lol. but chances are very slim that ill get in off the waitlist or any others i think 🙁
