A little bird told me.
They are looking for Assistant & Chief Medical Officers.
From what I hear,a very low stress job.
Sick of managed care? Looking for burnt out but good physicians, who want to serve their country, but not necessarily in the military. (Veterans preference does apply.)
How about an alternative job performing entrance physicals for military applicants for the department of defense as a civilian employee at the MEPS. (You will not be prescribing nor treating.)
It is an important mission, that unfortunately does not pay well.

current openings that I am aware of are: Boston, Knoxville, Baltimore, Fort Lee Va, possibly Memphis, could be others.
That's just what I heard.
I am not a Chief Medical Officer nor an assistant CMO.
I applied for Boston, Baltimore, Fort Lee VA, San Antonio, Fargo, Honolulu MEPS while still in residency, but had to pass up as I obtained another federal job last month. (Boston didn't even interview me, ouch!)
As it is a federal position, veterans are preferred.
I also applied to CDC, but they never got back to me.
Anyway best wishes on job search.
USA Jobs is a great site for federal physician positions.
If you are in the reserves, and plan to do twenty, a federal position is the way to go. They are very supportive.
