sorry, this is not really relevant to your questions, but I'm from FL too! I got an email on the 8/31 saying my app was complete. how long after your app was complete did you get an interview letter?

It was about 20 days, but the lady said that when things are running smoothly it can be as fast as 10 days. The 20 was just because they got a late start on them.

Hey! I got an 86 on the PCAT (June 07). My GPA I think is 3.4. I submitted the supplemental app and fee in mid-June and PharmCAS July 27th. I got an e-mail 8/10 saying my file was complete and 9/6 I received my interview in the mail. The key really is to apply early no matter where you want to go! It shows initiative, determination, and organization.

I got an interview invited today for sept. 28th, but I had to reschedule because I had an exam. now it is for Oct. 8th at 1pm. I am traveling from Florida. It is going to suck because I have a biochem exam the very next day.

i have an 89 PCAT
3.11 cumilative GPA
2.75 science GPA (2.98 according to PharmCAS)
im in a sorority, dance group, and cultural group
i have over 100 hours of volunteering in a Pharmacy

THE KEY IS TO APPLY EARLY!

they sent me an email saying my file was complete on Aug. 21st

Yay guys! I am so excited for you!! I live near Atlanta and am applying next year for 2009 also. Wow I knew applying early was key, but I didn't realize it was possible to apply as early as June/July. Good to know!

I am taking Org Chem I over the summer semester (that's the plan...hopefully they offer it) and I heard it was good to take PCAT after Org Chem I at least...but I really want to apply early. I am not sure what to do here...any advice for me?

-apply before PCAT is taken (can you do that?)
-take PCAT before Org Chem is completed
-Apply after summer semester and PCAT

PCAT is June 23 and Aug 25...as well as Oct 20

UGA website says the fall PCAT is preferred so that you can have a chance to retake in January if you need to...

I would not recommend taking the pcat before you take ochemI. You can apply before you take the pcat, but most schools say they dont look at your app until it's complete, including pcat scores. If you finish all your apps and then take the august pcat, you should be in good shape. Most people dont apply until much later. People here are just on the ball!

Thank you! I will complete all my apps and then send them in August. Good plan. 🙂 I have to take BIOL I and Gen CHEM II in the spring semester...and I'm pretty sure Chem II is a prereq for Org Chem.

One think I love about SDN...it makes me freak out to send my applications in August...lol Such over achievers...

Ok so I have the pharm. tech certification exam Sat. 9/22. My Botany lab notebook is due Wed. 9/26. Thursday I have my Botany mid-term at 9:30 and Immunology test at 1:30. Talk about stressin'!!! My immunology teacher is working w/ me so that I can leave earlier Thurs. Could you not reschedule the Friday exam? (PharmHopeful3)

Congrats! Where are you traveling from? Are you leaving Thursday?

Im only traveling from about 2 hours away, but considering atlanta traffic, im going ahead and staying at a hotel thursday night (i still need to make a reservation). For those of you traveling from out of state, if you can, rent a car or take your own if possible. I used to live in Atlanta, and the public transportation there is not very reliable. Also the rush hour traffic is really really hideously bad, so take that into account when you go to interviews (mornings 6-10, afternoons 4-8). Good luck your interviews!

Can't answer the other questions right off, but yes they do definintely value pharmacy experience. Last few classes have had upwards of 80% with pharmacy experience prior to entry.

No - they have just started interviewing. I'm a P2, and I didn't submit my application materials until just after Thanksgiving. Mercer will interview through April time frame.

I have not applied to this school because this is a private funding college school. I have had bad experiences attending private institutions.

This school is rolling admissions, so, I applied early (finished my application in early September).

GPA (PharmCAS): 3.50
Degree: Bachelor in Microbiology
PCAT (composite): 83
Extracurriculars: Yes 🙂))

Hello my fellow Mercer-applicants!

I am applying for Fall 2008. I've graduated college in May with my Bachelors in Bio with a 4.0 Chem minor. 3.75 Overall GPA. 7 months of pharm experience before college, and currently I work as a tech. Don't know about PCAT yet.

Apparently PharmCAS got my scores before I did! Hah! I took PCAT August 25th and I'm still waiting for my scores to come to ME. Mercer sent me a letter last month saying they had reviewed my academic record and need to see a PCAT score. Word is you have to get 60 or higher to even get an interview... So I'm just waiting patiently!

To those of you applying for 2009 or haven't taken the PCAT...
YES you can apply early. Apply as early as possible, even if you HAVEN'T taken PCAT. They WANT YOU TO. Your scores will come in way later, but the earlier you put in your app the earlier it will get reviewed and they will know you're interested! As for the test itself, it's a real boogar. It was way harder than the study material that I purchased... IF you only plan to take it once, I do not recommend taking it before you've had O-CHEM 1 (or 2, really.) I took Biochemistry which I must admit helped me on the Biology section more than any other class I've taken. Also, know your anatomy and physiology, but you CAN survive it without the classes (I did)! The essays aren't too bad, they are pretty random topics though... The reading comprehension is interesting and easy to understand. Verbal is 10 x's harder than Barron's review. Math was extremely difficult for me. It was NOTHING like my practice stuff... I was completely thrown by it. But then again, I haven't had calculus in 3 years and math has never been my strongest suit.

The interviews went well...everyone was sooo nice and welcoming. I really enjoyed it. I had one of the professors interview me, and it was really more of a very good conversation than a grilling inquisition. I hope everyone had as much of a good experience as I did!

check out the interview feedback. most of the people I were with had variations of different questions. However, I would also suggest not rehearsing answers...they are looking to see how honest, real, and geniune you are. There will be several people there. Make a few friends with the other interviewees (I made a few from my school, and it never hurts to have another dependable study buddy) and make sure to mingle with the faculty and current students. Good luck, and im sure you'll do great!
