I received a letter in the mail stating that that are carefully considering my application and are putting it on hold because they dont have my grades for a couple classes but does it really matter it seems so late anyway i dont know if its worth it.

oh btw does anyone know if english lit can count for english comp 2 for mercer?

They at least have one more interview session, I'm scheduled for April 7th. I may not end up going though if I get into my #1 choice who I should hear back from before then. Good Luck.

I was accepted by Mercer - latest e-mail from them indicated that the adcom would be making final decisions on the remaining class members in the first week of May. I have seen at least 2 April interview dates posted various places on sdn. I think they have to wait a bit to see how many people who have already given them a deposit back out when they find out about UGA.

What school is #1?

Midwestern CCP. I like the program there and love Chicago. I do like everything I've heard about Mercer so far though, so I may still be tempted to go and check it out. Plus I've never been to Atlanta.

Alwayz,

I took a look at the list of prereqs again just to make sure (and you might want to follow up with someone in the office) but I don't think you could sub English Lit for English CompII. You could, however, use the Lit course to fulfill half of the 6 elective hours in humanities that you need.

From the SSOP website, heading REQUIREMENTS: Humanities courses may be chosen from one or more of these areas: art, foreign languages, history, literature, music, philosophy or religion.

Hope that helps,
Julianne

They have at least one more because I cancelled my interview for April 3rd.

Thanks to everyone that replied! 😍 I actually did talk to Jordana today and she told me that literature will count as english comp 2..something about it being up to my school to say what comes after english comp 1 which is english lit. So now its just waiting and seeing what happens

Only problem is I dont know how much I'd like Atlanta 🙁

That's cool - one less class you'd have to worry about taking to meet the prereqs 🙂

Where are you from, BTW? I'll be moving from Birmingham to Atlanta and I'm actually looking forward to the change of scenery.

I'm done with my prereqs (i hope)...all of these schools want different things its annoying! haha

I'm from Jersey, I currently go to school in PA. PA is really nice and quiet and I like it which is why I'm thinking about getting my degree first before pharmacy school. I don't know how Atlanta is compared to like NYC or Philly and I think thats why I'm kinda blah about it. I'm not much of a city loving girl haha

I'll agree on the prereqs front - I have been going to school year round since May '04 just to meet the requirements for 4 schools (crazy!)...

Since I have been married I've lived in Tallahassee, two different places in Nashville, Birmingham, Montgomery, and a myriad of small towns in between. I will admit that big cities are nice for conveniences and entertainment, but they don't hold a candle to the peace and quiet of the country, IMO. This may be an unattainable goal, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to find a place far enough outside of Atlanta so that I don't feel like I'm living in a concrete jungle (yet close enough to make the drive to campus everyday in less than an hour) 🙂

So, did Jordana give you any time frame as to when you might hear from Mercer? The whole waitlist/alternate/hold thing makes my head hurt! I sometimes wonder if the schools deliberately make the process so stressful and confusing...

Less than an hour!?...not me! haha...im used to waking up at 10 min to class and walking my less than 50 feet to get there haha. However, the country life would def be more appealing to me so I can def see where your coming from on that =)

No, Jordana really didn't give me any time frame on when I should hear back. I haven't even been offered an interview so I dont really know what my chances are. I think Mercer is the first school I've been in contact with that you can actually get information from a living person within a day vs. within a MONTH. I guess the whole waiting process will just have to continue :scared: When did you get your interview/hear from them on your status?

The helpfulness/friendliness of the faculty and staff was very impressive to me (it's one of the main reasons I decided to attend , as a matter of fact!) - I have received more communication from Mercer than the other three schools I applied to combined.

I interviewed with them on 2-3 and received my acceptance letter between 3-3 and 3-10, I think (all of the important dates are running together in my mind these days - I need a break!)

I agree totally!! They seem very on top of things too, congrats on your acceptance and good luck! Depending on how things go maybe ill see u in the fall!

I also recieved the letter from mercer saying they needed add'l time to review my app. I haven't gone for an interview, does that mean I'm on the wait list or what?? Sometimes I think these schools just string you along for 6 months delaying an answer when in the end they're just waiting to send you a rejection. 😡
